Got the World on a String
We are not what you think we are, We are MUGGLES!!! (Sorry Mika, I stole your Lyrics)
Have you ever read a book that just changes your perspective on EVERYTHING?
Whatever you do or wherever you go you are constantly refrencing this book or you see someone and say “that is exactly how I pictured this character!!!” When I encounter a book like this i tend to read it repeatitivly until I have memorized what exactly has occured and I have analyzed each and every action of the characters. For me this book is Harry Potter, but don’t think I am one of the cliches.

I love Harry Potter, I always have. In all honesty, I was a bad fan.. As I was in kindergarten when the first book became a movie, my fan-itude branched out from the connections I made to the movies. I watched the first three movies before deciding to read the series. Looking back on it now, I feel almost as though I am hypocritical when I tell people who have just seen the movies that they aren’t true fans. I act as though I am a superior fan sometime, failing to acknowledge that not all Harry Potter fans have to be of the same mold. Personally, I think everyone with the ability to read should read the books because they transform the readers world forever. I am proud to say that I read every book that had been published in a week one summer. Soon thereafter, I read them AGAIN. I am making a much bigger deal out of Potter than I should be, but I’ve always wanted to write a piece on Potter…
I take Latin now, my friends joke that I only take the class to feel closer to the Wizarding community and less like a Muggle. Every time I read a word that resembles a spell I ask my teacher the exact meaning. My best friend in the class and I will jokingly cast spells at eachother (she too is a “Potterhead”). We got so eccentric that we now have our own wands, we take them to Latin class and Latin class only. We love Harry Potter, and the world that J.K. Rowling created, I feel closer to the true meaning because I truly understand various spells.
What I love most about Harry Potter is the world that I escaped to as a child. The second I began to read the words almost flew off the pages, swirling around my imagination, creating an alternate universe. Any time that I needed an escape from reality, I would cross through platform nine and three quarters and my life would revolve around Defense Against the Dark Arts instead of defending myself against the brother that would never stop tickling me.
So Yes, I know this post is really lame and lots of people will judge me for posting it, but I LOVE HARRY POTTER. ‘nuf said.
Talk about a “Yellow One!”
The Depressive Colors that Oppress our Thoughts.
Recently, a friend of mine posted this message on tumblr.
This is basically how I feel all the time.
I try in school. All the time. Unfortunately, that’s apparently not good enough. There’s always people better than me, and I know that no matter where I am, there will be. And because of this, my brain decides to blame it all on me. Not to sound like an ass, but I’m naturally smart so when I don’t do well on a test it’s probably really hard or I didn’t study enough. Sometimes I just feel like I could have studied so much harder. I always think of those people that study for hours and hours for tests and if I did that, I could probably have a 100 GPA. Now when I think of this, I just get so fucking angry with myself. I feel like such a slacker and that I’m throwing away my life. I’m such a super nerd when it comes to things like this…
With my friends I feel like I’m not good enough for them. I feel like I treat them well most of the times, but sometimes I just act rude with them. Also, I just feel like I don’t fit in. I’m kind of an innocent goody goody so whenever a new hobby arises that’s a tad hoodlem-ish, I don’t approve and try to sway them from their decisions. I only want the best for them. Also, I can sometimes be a little bit two faced. Just because I act differently with different people. I just hate how I do it and I don’t do it on purpose. Ugh.
So, know that I just ranted about my pathetic life, I’m probably going to go to bed. I kind of like ranting like this because (hopefully) when people read it, they’ll realize that I’m not the bubbly, stupid, goofy person they think I am. It’s just a front due to my extreme self-consciousness. :/ Goodnight, all.
Upon reading this post, I felt the need to reply…. Little did I know that a reply is only 200 characters. I had more to say than 200 characters would allow… I want this person to know always that:
When you walk into a room, smiles instantly appear on peoples faces. I feel honored to be one of those people.
Regardless of your insecurities about school, which I too experience with every grade that is returned to me, your insecurities about relationships trouble me. You my friend are one of the most special people I have ever met. You have a completely new and unique outlook on situations that inspire your friends. If anything, your friends are not good enough for you. You cannot be expected to never be rude, every girl on this planet is rude at least once a month, guys have to catch up somehow!!!
Being a goody-two-shoes is NOT a bad thing. For a while last year, I was categorized as the church kid, or the goody-two-shoes; at first I was offended, I lost friends because of the hoodlem-esq things that I refused to do… Over time I realized that I made the right decision for me. What you need to realize is that your efforts to sway your friends from getting into the wrong things, is you doing the RIGHT thing. You have backbone, and are steadfast in your beliefs, by no means is that a bad thing.
You said that you were two-faced. Well in all honesty, EVERYONE is a little two-faced. I am, you are, our friends are, SO WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?! its a human reaction. No one wants to admit it, but its true.
DO NOT THINK THAT YOUR NOT GOOD ENOUGH, because your good enough for me…
It’s like forgetting the words to your favorite song
You can’t believe it
You were always singing along
It was so easy and the words so sweet
You can’t remember
You try to feel the beat
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet, eet, eet, eet
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeteeet, eet, eet, eet
You spent half of your life trying to fall behind
You’re using your headphones to drown out your mind
It was so easy, and the words so sweet
You can’t remember
You try to move your feet
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet, eet, eet, eet
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeteeet, eet, eet, eet
Someone’s deciding whether or not to steal
He opens the window just to feel the chill
He hears that outside a small boy just starting to cry
‘Cause it’s his turn but his brother won’t let him try
It’s like forgetting the words to your favorite song
You can’t believe it
You were always singing along
It was so easy and the words so sweet
You can’t remember
You try to move your feet
It was so easy and the words so sweet
You can’t remember, you try to feel the beat
Some songs just take over your mind, infecting your every thought, overwhelming your powerless ears. This is one of those songs. Whether it is the piano introduction, or the use of a seemingly original word for the majority of the refrain, the song has a power over its listener. The lyrics are true and they are meaningful and anyone can feel empathy toward the lyricist, “It’s like forgetting the words to your favorite song. You can’t believe it, You were always singing along. It was so EASY and the words so SWEET, You can’t remember, you try to feel the beat.”
I’ve got the world on a string
I’m sitting on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
What a world, what a life - I’m in love
I’ve got a song that I sing
I can make the rain go
Any time I move my finger
Lucky me, can’t you see - I’m in love
Life is a beautiful thing
As long as I hold the string
I’d be a silly so-and-so
If I should ever let it go
I’ve got the world on a string
I’m sitting on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
What a world, what a life - I’m in love
Life is a beautiful thing
As long as I hold the string
I’d be a silly so-and-so
If I should ever let it go
I’ve got the world on a string
I’m sitting on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
What a world,
Man, this is the life
Hey now, I’m so in love
Voltaire, You Silly Ol’ Man
Voltaire is regarded as a man before his time. His comical state of mind has led to various papers and theory’s written on his behalf. His quotes are witty and truthful.. This is among the greatest accomplishments any one man can achieve. The truth in his humor is what made him great.
- “Anything that is too stupid to be spoken is sung. “
Hmm… I think that this is more applicable to anything that is too personal to be spoken is sung. Songs are poetry, poetry isn’t unspoken stupidity, its a personal release of emotion.
- “As long as people believe in absurdities they will continue to commit atrocities.”
Whats the difference between an absurdity and an atrocity???
- “Chance is a word void of sense; nothing can exist without a cause.
It is said that people create their own luck. We put ourselves in circumstances that will permit us to become luckier. There are many similarities between Luck and Chance aren’t there? If Luck is about the circumstances that we put ourselves in that are bound to go out in favor of us, than what is chance???
- “Every man is guilty of all the good he did not do.”
The goats and the lambs.
- “Common sense is not so common.”
Dwelling on the commonalities of today will not make us the common people of tomorrow. Concentrating on the extraordinary, and developing our own uniqueness will make us the future.
Paper back writer (paperback writer)
Dear Sir or Madam, will you read my book?
It took me years to write, will you take a look?
It’s based on a novel by a man named Lear
And I need a job, so I want to be a paperback writer,
Paperback writer.
It’s the dirty story of a dirty man
And his clinging wife doesn’t understand.
The son (The Sun) is working for the Daily Mail,
It’s a steady job but he wants to be a paperback writer,
Paperback writer.
Paperback writer (paperback writer)
It’s a thousand pages, give or take a few,
I’ll be writing more in a week or two.
I can make it longer if you like the style,
I can change it round and I want to be a paperback writer,
Paperback writer.
If you really like it you can have the rights,
It could make a million for you overnight.
If you must return it, you can send it here
But I need a break and I want to be a paperback writer,
Paperback writer.
